Individual Therapy for Women near Southwest Hills

Many women carry the pressure of doing it all – managing work, family, and everyone else’s needs while ignoring their own. Over time, this can lead to burnout, frustration, and feeling disconnected from yourself. Individual therapy helps women create space to focus on what they need, set healthy boundaries, and handle life’s demands without feeling overwhelmed. Whether you’re dealing with stress, relationship issues, or major life changes, therapy offers practical support so you can feel more balanced and in control.

Our Approach

At Douglas Counseling, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. Whether you’re coming in for individual therapy or couples counseling, our approach is personalized to help you see real results in your everyday life. That might look like fewer arguments at home, being able to speak up without shutting down, or simply feeling more in control of your emotions and your future.

During your first session, we take the time to understand your situation. What’s working, what’s not, and what you want to see change. From there, we create a clear plan based on your goals. You’ll leave that session knowing what’s keeping you stuck and how we’ll work together to move forward. You’ll also know how often we recommend meeting and what progress might look like over time.

We don’t just talk. We teach practical strategies you can use right away so that you can feel heard in your relationship, handle conflict better, and make choices that move you closer to the kind of life you actually want to live. Therapy isn’t about fixing you. It’s about helping you gain the clarity and support to take action and create lasting change. Our approach is based on the concept that the relationship you seek to improve is the client. We help you look at the issues more objectively, stop the finger pointing, and improve at a deeper level.

Client Testimonials and Success Stories

Janine and Brett from Southwest Hills:

This couple attended therapy after working with 2 other couples therapists in the last year. They wanted to work on building intimacy and improving communication but had not found their previous therapy helpful.  The couple was beginning to feel worn down and both agreed they needed solutions quickly or the relationship would not be sustainable.

Their therapist helped both partners understand how they were contributing to the relational dynamic. Janine was feeling hurt about Brett’s avoidance but was lashing out in a blaming and aggressive way. Brett felt like he could “never do enough” and retreated to spend time in his office on work to avoid Janine’s frustration. Once the couple understood their part in this toxic dynamic their therapist worked with them on new mindsets, strategies, and actions to help close their intimacy gap. At the end of therapy both partners agreed that their time in couples counseling was extremely productive and even referred a friend of theirs for help.

Macy T. from Southwest Hills:

Macy called our office to see if we could help her cope with a challenging time in her life. Macy had just taken over the caregiving role for her aging and sick father and felt pressured by her responsibilities with her high school aged children and hectic work schedule. She felt pulled in so many directions that she was unsure how she would make it through the days. Macy’s therapist guided her to assess her priorities, leverage her support system, and shed responsibilities that were unsustainable. Macy was able to change her perspective from thinking she was in charge of taking care of everyone to seeing that she must have limits and can’t be everything to everyone. Therapy helped Macy to learn the value in setting limits with those around her, asking for help when she needed it, and letting go of outcomes she can’t control. Macy ended her therapy feeling much lighter and showed a renewed energy for life that she hadn’t felt in quite some time.
