About Me

Hello, and welcome! My name is Ken Kemp. As a couples therapist, I help couples create
healthier and more resilient relationships through Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). For
uncertain couples, I help with the processes of gaining clarity, mutual understanding, and
recognizing choices.

I also enjoy working with individuals seeking therapy for a deeper connection to their life’s
meaning and for getting to the bottom of things. Initially, symptoms and/or relationship issues
can lead us into therapy, and there are many helpful treatments for symptom reduction. However,
symptoms can also be seen as wake-up calls for a deeper level of healing that is trying to get our
conscious attention. This approach is often referred to as depth or a Jungian-based
psychotherapy. It seeks to uncover underlying causes rather than solely focusing on symptom
reduction. It aims to engage with one’s sense of meaning in life, one’s sense of the sacred in the
world, and one’s inner wisdom for the way forward.

My Experience

I have been in clinical practice for over six years. My journey began in community mental
health, where I worked with individuals suffering from severe and persistent mental illnesses.
Through collaboration with medical providers and resource teams, we worked to help stabilize,
impart skills, and provide a sense of hope and care. After three years, I transitioned into private
practice to focus on my interests in couples therapy and individual depth and Jungian-based
psychotherapy. I attend trainings and supervisions to further my clinical skills. I regularly attend
Jungian Analysis to provide a more considered care for myself and my patients. I am working
towards ICEEFT certification as an Emotionally Focused Therapist for couples.

Therapy Approach

It is important to feel seen and heard, in a safe, nonjudgmental way. It is important to feel a sense
of hope and that your therapist genuinely cares about you as a person. I work to create a
therapeutic experience that nurtures these experiences. I also strive to meet my patients at their
level, meaning we each have our own rhythms, speed, and pace towards healing and growth as
we pass through life. I work to help you discover your own pace and the right balance of
acceptance and change that feels internally congruent. In my practice, I use a blend of
contemporary and traditional psychotherapies. Below are the psychotherapies I use:

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples (EFT)
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (Depth)
  • Jungian-based Therapy (Analytical Psychology)
  • Motivational Interviewing and Person-Centered Therapy

Who I Am

I entered the practice of psychotherapy later in life. It is my hope that my life experiences will
help me to have a greater understanding, empathy, and compassion for those in my care. I find
solace in nature, inspiration in the dramatic arts, and renewal in dreams. I have a strong inner
connection to health and well-being and come from a family of physicians.
